How much does a half bath remodel cost?
A half bath (a toilet and sink, about 20 to 35 square feet) is the least expensive bathroom to remodel, because there's no tub or shower to replace or waterproof. In Renovue's planning model, a half bath remodel runs $2,500–$30,000, from a vanity refresh to a fully tiled powder room with a custom vanity.

Questions
- How much does it cost to remodel a half bath?
- In Renovue's planning model, $2,500–$30,000. A refresh (refinished vanity, new faucet, mirror and light) sits at the low end; a new vanity, floor tile and mid-range fixtures sit in the middle; a custom vanity with full-height tile and premium fixtures sits at the top.
- Why is a half bath cheaper to remodel than a full bath?
- There's no tub or shower, which is the largest line in a full bath remodel, and no shower walls to waterproof. The room is also about half the size, so tile and prep cost less.
- What adds the most value to a powder room remodel?
- The vanity and lighting, since guests see the powder room more than any other bathroom. Full-height tile or a statement wallcovering has more impact in a small room than in a large one.
- Can I add a shower to a half bath?
- Sometimes, if there's room and the plumbing allows it, but that turns it into a full bath project with new drains, waterproofing and possibly framing. Renovue's half bath estimate doesn't include it.
